Lunch Break

Just Looking

Just Looking, the next mini course in the Christian faith, will take place at St Michael's on Friday evenings from November 7 until December 5, at 7 pm.   Click here for further information.

Deanery Synod Meetings

Deanery Synod meetings in 2008, to which all are welcome, will be at 8 pm on: Wednesday February 13, Thursday May 15, Monday September 15 and Tuesday November 25.

Advent Carol Service

Our first Advent Carol Service will be on Sunday November 30 (Advent Sunday) at 6 pm.   Click here for further information.

Advent Meditations

Advent Meditations will take place in the Lady Chapel Tuesday evenings on December 2, December 9, December 16 and December 23 and last for 40 minutes from 8pm.  Enter into the stillness of a guided meditation on an Advent theme. There will be music and stillness .  On December 16 and 23 the meditation will follow Compline (which starts at 7.30pm).  Do come to either or both.

Christmas Concert

The Baroque Chamber Ensemble Pellegrina will give a candlelight Christmas concert on Saturday December 6 at 7.30 pm. The programme will feature Baroque Christmas Music from across Europe, including Corelli's Christmas Concerto and Sheep May Safely Graze by Bach.  Tickets cost £10 and are available from The Record Shop, Amersham; by calling the Pellegrina TicketLine 07864 093042; or at the door.  For further information please see the December Newsletter.

Café Carols

At St. Michael's on Sunday December 7 at 6 pm.  Come and sing some well-known carols over mulled wine and mince pies. All are welcome.

Town Carol Service

This year's Amersham Town Carol Service will take place at St Michael's on Wednesday December 10 at 7.30 pm.

Late Night Shopping

The church will be open on Friday December 12 during the late night shopping at Amersham-on-the-Hill.  shed@thepark will be singing in church at 6.30 pm and there’ll be carol singing on the forecourt at 7 pm.  For further information please see the December Newsletter.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, the Crib Service will be at 4 pmMidnight Mass (with candles) commences at 11.15 pm 

Christmas Day

Christmas Day services commence with a Said Eucharist at 8 am. The Eucharist with carols is at 10 am.

COTHA Joint Service

The next joint service for the Churches on the Hill will be at St John's on Sunday January 25.  Please note it will be at 10.30 am.

Bible Study

Four Bible Study sessions are planned on the theme of Covenant, to take place at 11.30 am on Tuesday* mornings in the Lady Chapel:

January 27 2009 - Covenant with Abraham - A land, a people, and a 'blessing to the nations.

February 3 - Covenant with Moses - A blood sacrifice and the Law.

February 10 - No meeting.

February 17 - Covenant in the Synoptic gospels - ' this cup is the new covenant in my blood'.

*Wednesday February 25. Covenant in St John's Gospel. - 'You have kept the good wine until now'.

Tea and coffee are served before the sessions begin.

Candlemas

Candlemas will be celebrated on Sunday February 1.  As usual there will be no 10 am service, but there will be a candlelit service at 4 pm.

Variety Show

St. Michael's Variety Show on Saturday May 9 2009 will include the latest offering from our flourishing Junior Drama Group - The Ugly Duckling.

Oberammagau 2010

Churches-on-the-Hill Amersham are offering an opportunity to attend the Oberammagau Passion Play on June 9 2010. It will be a 10 day trip (two in Oberammagau) and is likely cost a little over £1,200.
