Concerts
Music is an important part of life at St Michael’s and in addition to the high quality of singing and musicianship provided weekly by the St Michael’s Choir at sung Eucharist services, there are occasional concerts given by semi-professional groups such as Ffortissimo and by overseas visitors such as the Hermitage Ensemble of Saint Petersburg. The Amersham Festival Orchestra and Singers have regularly used St Michael’s as the venue for the Eucharist service which concludes the annual Amersham Festival
The acoustic of the church is good for large orchestras and massed voices but especially fine for smaller choirs and groups of musicians. The organ, built by J.W. Walker in 1884, is of superb quality and recitals are also given from time to time.
CD recordings of concerts are often made available for purchase, and the church is a comfortable, warm and light venue, with excellent sightlines and facilities [click on link for Hiring St Michael’s for Parties and Events] .
