PALM SUNDAY            5th April

Sung Holy Communion. Washing of Feet and Silent Vigil. We commemorate the initiation of the Eucharist at the Last Supper and Jesus’ humble washing of the feet of his disciples. The altar is then stripped to symbolise the stripping of Christ’s garments and the left-over bread and wine is placed on the Altar of Repose.  After the service you may wish to stay on while a silent vigil is kept until 10.00pm.

GOOD FRIDAY           10th April

Reflection, Adoration of the Cross and Holy Communion from reserved sacrament. We gather in silence at the Altar of Repose before moving into the main church, as we remember Christ’s Crucifixion.  For Holy Communion we use bread and wine already consecrated and brought from the Altar of Repose.

We gather in darkness.  The Paschal candle, signifying the Light of Christ, is lit and we are invited to renew our Baptismal vows, remembering that in the early church Baptisms took place only at Easter.  This is followed by the first Eucharist of Easter.
